thermostatRate 11 Load Control Program

Approximately 2,500 Corn Belt members participate in our Rate 11 load control program as a way for Corn Belt to maintain low energy costs from our power supplier.  This program is at capacity and we are not accepting additional enrollments at this time.

Rate 11 members can now be notified of summer interrupts via text message and e-mail.  Simply provide your cell phone number(s) and your cell phone carrier (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc.) and we'll add you to our notification list. We will send out e-mail and text message alerts a few hours before scheduled interrupts for those who have opted to receive these notifications. Make sure your cell phone is enabled to receive texts and that you check your e-mail account's spam folder.  Notify us in the event you switch cell phone carriers so you can continue receiving text alerts.  Click here to sign up for Rate 11 notifications.

Participants who don't wish to receive e-mail or text alerts can call us at 800-879-0339 or visit the outage section of our website to see if an interrupt has been scheduled on a particular day.  Often times, the decision to schedule a Rate 11 interrupt may not be determined until 1:00 PM or later, so make sure to check in the afternoon on a suspected interrupt day.

Members on Rate 11 allow Corn Belt to interrupt power to their meter during a few electric peak periods from June 1 through September 30 each year.  In exchange for allowing us to manage peak load, Rate 11 members receive a lower energy rate.  Interruptions typically occur on hot weekday afternoons as we try to anticipate the highest usage period of each month.  This typically occurs any time from 3 to 6 PM on hot summer days as our residential members increase their air conditioning usage.

Members currently on Rate 11 may opt-out at any time, but they will no longer receive the discounted electric rate and they are not allowed to opt back into the program.

Copy of Rate 11 Service Agreement

The Rate 11 service agreement reads in part as follows:

"The Cooperative shall be permitted, without notice or restraint, to interrupt electric service to the member's residence during electric peak periods from June 1 through September 30.  The interruption may last up to three hours during any one such interruption.  The determination of what constitutes an electric peak period shall be made by the Cooperative, and the Cooperative shall, within its sole discretion, determine the necessity for interruptions and the number of interruptions to be made.  Interruptions can occur on Monday thru Friday, no weekends or holidays.  Interrupts are most likely to be late afternoon but may extend into early evening should peak electric load mandate."
