Green Power Rate
Corn Belt members have the power to support alternative energy sources through the Green Power Rate. Those who opt-in will receive electricity generated from alternative energy sources by paying ½ cent more per kilowatt-hour for their usage each month. (For the average residential member, that’s approximately $50 per year.) That extra money is placed in the Green Power Fund, which is administered by our Board of Directors to support local environmental projects.
We purchase green power from Wabash Valley Power Association, a cooperative energy supplier that invests in these alternative energy sources:
- - Wind farms
- - Landfill gas-to-energy plants
- - Dairy farms/biogas plants
- - Solar farm
