Green Power Program

Green Power Rate available from Corn Belt Energy

Finally someone has the power to help the environment. You!

Purchasing environmentally conscious “green power” is now an option for electric consumers supplied by Corn Belt Energy Corporation.

“Green Power” is electricity generated from the wind or biomass. Corn Belt Energy is purchasing its green power from a supplier that operates landfill-power generators in Indiana and a wind farm in Illinois.

Besides supplying green power to consumers who opt for it, the program will raise funds for environmental projects in the Corn Belt Energy service area.

These landfills produce methane, and it’s used as fuel for generating electricity. It reduces our need to use more non-renewable fossil fuels.

If you like the idea of "Green Power," this rate's for you.

Members on the Green Power Rate will pay ½ cent more per kilowatt-hour for their usage each month. For the average residential member, that’s approximately $46 per year.

That money will be placed in the Green Power Fund, which will be administered by the board of directors. It will fund local environmental projects.

This is a tangible way to make a difference in response to members’ concern about the environment.
